In this course I show you how I used straight line rulerwork to follow the diagonal lines of the piecing in Herringbone Revisited. I went straight down the middle of each parallelogram, then traveled up the column seam, stitching just next to the ditch to get to the next piece.

This course ONLY includes the quilting tutorial for this quilt. It is included as part of the pattern course at this link.

I LOVE rulerwork. I don’t always get to do it because it definitely takes more time than a nice easy all-over free motion quilting stitch, but that doesn’t mean it’s hard. Once you get the hang of keeping the ruler foot in contact with your ruler, you can create perfect shapes and straight lines every time.

The results are a pretty straightforward way to use rulerwork to accent the diagonal lines of the piecing, so the quilting adds to the pattern without being distracting.
