Quilting Rulerwork Chevrons – Fly Away
Today I’m showing you how I quilted Fly Away using rulerwork chevrons.
I wanted to highlight the quilt layout, so I followed the diagonal lines of the quilt design to create lines 1-inch apart at a 45 degree angle going up and down the quilt in a chevron pattern.
This course ONLY includes the quilting tutorial for this quilt. It is included as part of the pattern course at this link.
In the video you can see the same view I have as I quilt, so you can see how I line the ruler up with the seam lines, and move around the quilt to create the lines.
I also show you the very tiny advances I had to make in order to make the quilted chevrons go from top to bottom working with the limited throat space I have in my APQS Lenni. It’s one of the smaller longarms they make, and it was the first time in four years, that I wished I had a little more space.
Rulerwork isn’t hard once you get the hang of keeping your foot next to the ruler at all times. Once you get that down, you can quilt any shape you have a ruler for. But it does take some practice to get it down.
